Injury crash reported on I-635

An injury crash was reported on I-635 southbound at Kansas Avenue at 7:09 a.m. Dec. 30, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report.

A 2001 Pontiac was traveling southbound on I-635 and for an unknown reason, the driver lost control , left the roadway, and struck a bridge pillar, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the Pontiac, a 29-year-old Kansas City, Kan., woman, was injured and taken to a hospital, the report stated.

Garden presentation to be Jan. 5

“Insects in the Garden” will be presented from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, in the Sunflower Room of the Wyandotte County Extension Office, 1208 N. 79th St., Kansas City, Kan.

Lynn Loughary, horticulture specialist with K-State Research and Extension, Wyandotte County, will present the program.

Those attending will learn to identify some of the most common beneficial insects and butterflies that frequent the area. Participants will learn how to protect, attract and maintain existing populations of “good bugs” by planting plants which provide shelter and nectar.

Program on financial wellness to be Jan. 11

A program on financial wellness will be presented at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Bonner Springs City Library, 201 N. Nettleton Ave., Bonner Springs.

Learn how to track spending, set up a family budget, and develop a reasonable savings plan to meet emergencies and goals.

This program is presented by K-State Research and Extension.
