What I’d like to know about is former communities within your county, such as the Wolcott area. I’ve learned on how the old Thunderlake Speedway is now permanently closed. Will they be trying to rebuild in that area?

I’ve also heard on how Wolcott was once an important shipping point on a certain railroad. It’d be nice if the town could make a comeback, somehow. I’m aware of the occasional flooding concerns, but that hasn’t stopped Lakeside Speedway from still being in business…they rebuilt and are prospering. With Wolcott’s history, it should have became a national historic site. But I have seen on how, when the Thunderlake was being taken up, the small street grid was left intact, thank goodness…it seemed as if it were a pretty little town in the days before the ’93 Flood and, once again, it’d be nice if the powers-that-be could rebuild and restore in that area.

Please drop me a line when you can…thanks for listening.

Brian Turrel’s photos of various track events at KU are good. Enjoyed the article. Nice work!

Bill, thanks for the kind words on the pictures. It’s a privilege to be able to provide some coverage for these students who put so much time and talent on the line in their events.
