BPU looks at paperless billing

by William Crum

At tonight’s work session the Board of Public Utilities members discussed the implementation of paperless billing.

This is where you go online and pay your bill. Currently it is being tested by the employees at the Board of Public Utilities. The board plans to implement paperless billing in July of this year.

Another item that was discussed at tonight’s work session was the sale of bonds so the BPU can make capital improvements. Overall it looks very promising that the BPU will be able to sell the bonds on the investment market.

At the regular meeting, Greg Kindle, president of the Wyandotte Economic Development Council, gave a presentation on various new businesses that are coming to Wyandotte County.

One was the Village West apartments’ phase 3. These are apartments that are currently under construction in the western part of our community.

According to Kindle, Wyandotte County is really growing; there are a lot of businesses that want to locate in Wyandotte County. It should be mentioned that the Fairfax industrial area is also going through a revitalization, meaning that more businesses are coming to Wyandotte County.
