I grew up at 40th & Leavenworth road. I was born in 1928. I spent many hours swimming, fishing, and ice skating at Welborn Lake. Even up into my twenties, friends from the Missouri side joined in ice skating at Welborn. I know it is a private lake, but it has also been, at least in the past, a very public lake. Good luck in solving the upkeep problem and a big thank you to the conservationist for his labor. http://wyandottedaily.com/welborn-lake-to-be-subject-of-tuesday-evening-meeting/

Hello! My name is Chance Chaput, and I am the organist at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kansas City, KS. On behalf of St. Paul’s, I would like to extend an invitation to everyone at the Wyandotte Daily to our upcoming organ benefit concert this coming Sunday, November 4 at 3:00 pm. Our recitalist is Fr. Paul Turner, rector of Immaculate Conception Cathedral in downtown Kansas City, MO.
This will be an afternoon to celebrate our Charles McManis pipe organ at what will be the first organ recital in our 162-year history in the Westheight Neighborhood. Originally built in Kansas City, KS in 1955, it was rebuilt in 1998 and was not tuned or maintained again until February of this year after a couple of gracious donations. Any funds raised at the concert will go directly toward the ongoing repairs and upkeep of our instrument.
We hope to see you there.
