Waterfowl Classic event planned Aug. 13
Cabela’s in Kansas City, Kansas, will offer waterfowl hunting enthusiasts and those wanting to learn more about the sport a weekend of activities, seminars and appearances during its Waterfowl Classic event, Aug. 12-13. In addition to many Waterfowl events taking place over the weekend, Cabela’s will also host DockDogs, which are flying and jumping dogs that may entertain families. There is no admission. A support group for caregivers will meet from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The group is for men and women. The facilitator is Jackie Tigges MSW, LCSW.

Group to meet Aug. 16

BPU to meet Aug. 16
The Board of Public Utilities will meet for a work session at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at the board offices, 540 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. On the work session agenda is a board update, general manager update and a continuation of a discussion on the strategic plan. The BPU regular session will follow at 6 p.m. Aug. 16. On the agenda are a visitors’ time; a report on 20/20 Leadership; a report on Western Fuels resolutions; board comments; and general manager comments.

Job fair planned Aug. 22
A job fair is planned from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Kansas City Kansas Community College Burke Technical Center, 6565 State Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. The job fair was announced by U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, R-3rd Dist. The first hour of the job fair, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., is only for veterans. The rest of the job fair, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open to the public. Exhibitors are asked to register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/congressman-kevin-yoder-job-fair-and-resource-event-tickets-36420599995. Space is limited. Job seekers do not need to register. According to information from the sponsor, job seekers should dress for the job interview and bring several copies of their resume. There is no fee to attend.

Program offered about saving trees
A program will be offered about saving trees from the emerald ash borer. The program will cover identification and treatment, and recommended replacement trees. The Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., offers counseling services available in English and Spanish for men and women. Wyandotte County Museum
