Rain today, storms possible Tuesday

Rain is in the forecast today for Wyandotte County, and stronger storms are possible on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms Tuesday may be capable of small hail and gusty winds, the weather service said.

One to two inches of rain will be possible today through Wednesday, which could lead to minor river flooding, according to the weather service.

Tuesday night, expect an 80 percent chance of rain and possibly a thunderstorm, according to the weather service. The low will be around 44 with a northeast wind of 10 to 16 mph, gusting as high as 28 mph. Between three-quarters and one inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 55. The north northwest wind will be 17 to 20 mph, gusting as high as 28 mph. Between a quarter and half-inch of rain is possible.

Wednesday night, there is a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 39.

Thursday, skies will be sunny with a high near 56, the weather service said.

Friday, expect sunny skies with a high near 61, the weather service said.

Beautiful day ahead; fire danger increases in afternoon

As temperatures today reach a high of 77 with mostly sunny skies, the National Weather Service is advising residents to be concerned about the potential for fire hazards as the dry weather continues.

With low relative humidity values, about 20 to 30 percent in the afternoon, and increasing wind speeds in the afternoon, there will be an elevated fire weather danger this afternoon, the weather service said.
