Three vehicles, including police vehicle and bus, crash at 18th and Minnesota

Three vehicles, including a police vehicle, car and bus with 10 passengers, were involved in a crash at 4:11 p.m. Monday, June 4, at 18th and Minnesota in Kansas City, Kansas.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, the 2016 Ford Explorer was southbound on 18th Street with its lights and sirens on, responding to a call, when the crash happened.

The police vehicle entered the intersection, and then a 2018 Hyundai Elantra westbound on Minnesota struck the police vehicle, which pushed the police vehicle into a bus that was eastbound on Minnesota Avenue, west of the intersection, according to the trooper’s report.

The driver of the police vehicle was taken to the hospital with a possible injury, the trooper’s report stated. It is thought to be a minor injury.

The 38-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman driving the Elantra was taken to the hospital, according to the trooper’s report.

The 50-year-old bus driver, a woman from Parkville, Missouri, was taken to the hospital with an injury, the trooper’s report stated.

Three passengers on the bus who had possible injuries and were taken to the hospital include a 53-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman; a 50-year-old Grandview Plaza, Missouri, man; and a 53-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, according to the trooper’s report.

Six passengers on the bus reported no injuries, according to the trooper’s report. They included a 14-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, girl; a 53-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman; a 62-year-old Sedalia, Missouri, man; a 45-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman; a 69-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man; and a 60-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman.
