Online town hall meetings start today on the topic of ramp metering on I-35.
According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, KC Scout is moving forward with the I-35 ramp metering project between the Kansas-Missouri state line and I-435. KC Scout is operated by the Kansas and Missouri departments of transportation.
KC Scout and KDOT are holding the online ramp metering meetings until Dec. 31 to gather public comment on the locations of I-35 on-ramps.
There are also meetings in person at different locations to discuss the ramp metering project.
The public may review exhibits and recommend locations for ramp meters along I-35 in Wyandotte and Johnson counties. Representatives from KC Scout, KDOT, and the consultant team will be present at in-person meetings to answer questions and discuss issues or concerns. No formal presentations will be given.

A funeral service for Joshua Martin, 26, who died in a traffic accident Nov. 24, will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Village West Family Church, 2205 N. 102nd, Kansas City, Kan.
Martin was driving a concrete truck on I-435 in Johnson County when it rolled over.
He graduated from Bonner Springs High School, received his commercial driver’s license from Ft. Scott Community College, and his linesman certification from Metropolitan Community College. Josh worked for Walker Towel and Uniform before his employment at Quicksilver Ready Mix, and also owned and operated A & J Lawncare since 2011. He was a member of Village West Family Church and involved in USBC and the KCK RBI league.
He leaves his fiancée Amber, four children, ages 10, 8, 6 and 2, and also his father and mother, a brother and two grandmothers.

Some Fairfax industrial district roads were closed after a Kansas City, Mo., police chase ended in an accident with a semi at 7th and Sunshine Road, Kansas City, Kan.
According to a Kansas City, Mo., police spokeswoman, it all started when officers were notified of a suspicious car and occupant call in the 5800 block of Kenwood in Kansas City, Mo., at 10:49 a.m. today.
Officers saw four suspects jump into a vehicle that matched the description of the suspicious car, the spokeswoman stated.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the suspects shot at the police officers, disabling an officer’s vehicle, according to the spokeswoman. The officers were not injured.
The suspects fled, and other Kansas City, Mo., officers then gave chase, the spokeswoman stated.
The fleeing suspects crossed the state line on I-70 and entered Kansas, and shortly afterward the suspects were in an accident with a semi at 7th and Sunshine Road in the Fairfax district of Kansas City, Kan., according to the spokeswoman.
All suspects sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated, the spokeswoman stated. No officers were injured.
