Holy Family Catholic Church will celebrate its 14th annual Slovenefest 2022 on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Slovenefest is about celebrating God, church, family and Slovenian heritage.
Slovenefest 2022 will begin with a Mass at 4 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard, Kansas City, Kansas.
The family festivities will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Monsignor Mejak Hall, gym, and school grounds, at 513 Ohio, Kansas City, Kansas.
There will be a Slovenian dinner, children and adult games, a silent auction, a cultural booth and a raffle. Entertainment includes the Brian McCarty Band and Hrvatski Obicaj.
Holy Family Catholic Church is made up of families that have been attending Mass and school for generations. The church is over 100 years old and is home to many Slovenian families. All money raised benefits Holy Family Catholic Church.
Monsignor Heliodore N. Mejak was the longest living priest to serve at Holy Family Church from June 1944 until Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2007, (64 years). Father Joseph Arsenault is currently the full-time pastor of Holy Family Church, that is home to many Slovenian families.
