Today’s high will be near 57, according to the National Weather Service, while there is an elevated fire danger this afternoon, plus ongoing river flooding.
The weather service said because of drying fuels and gusty winds, the fire danger today will be elevated.
Ongoing river flooding will persist through the work week, according to the weather service. The Missouri River at Parkville, which includes Wyandotte County, is at moderate flood stage and is currently declining. That gauge is on I-435 over the Missouri River, between Wyandotte County and Missouri.
The gauge for the Missouri River at Kansas City, located south of the downtown Kansas City, Missouri, airport, has fallen below flood stage.
The gauge for the Kansas River at 23rd Street, which is located on Kansas Avenue at the state line, is currently in the action stage.
Today’s weather will be mostly sunny, with a high near 57 and a south southwest wind of 7 to 13 mph, the weather service said.
Tonight, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 38 and a south wind of 8 to 13 mph, according to the weather service.
Tuesday, it will be sunny with a high near 61 and a southwest wind of 6 to 9 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon, the weather service said.
Tuesday night, there is a 30 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m., with a low of 45, according to the weather service. A light and variable wind will become east around 5 mph after midnight. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is likely.
Wednesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 1 p.m., the weather service said. The high will be near 64. A southeast wind of 7 to 13 mph will gust as high as 22 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.
Wednesday night, there is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m., then showers are likely, a thunderstorm possible between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m., and showers likely after 4 a.m., according to the weather service. The low will be around 46 with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter-inch.
Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m., with a high near 58, the weather service said.
Thursday night, it will be mostly cloudy with a low of 44, according to the weather service.
Friday, the high will be near 66 with mostly sunny skies, the weather service said.
Friday night, it will be partly cloudy with a low of 50, according to the weather service.
Saturday, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 72, the weather service said.
Saturday night, it will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 56, according to the weather service.
Sunday, there is a 60 percent chance of rain, with a high near 70, the weather service said.
