Kansas reported 186 more COVID-19 cases today in 70 counties, according to state health officials. There were three more deaths. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is confirming its first presumptive-positive case of COVID-19 in Kansas, according to a news release from the governor’s office. The case is in Johnson County, according to state officials. The possible case was identified today with testing sent to KDHE’s Kansas Health and Environmental Laboratories (KHEL). KHEL, which is approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to perform COVID-19 testing, found presumptive-positive results this afternoon. Wyandotte County now has a third death related to COVID-19 and a new total of 37 positive cases, according to Terrie Garrison, interim director of the Unified Government Health Department. The company had requested an increase that would have raised bills for residential customers about $4.33 per month in the winter and $3.41 per month in the summer, according to a news release from the Kansas Corporation Commission. A free fireworks display is planned tonight at Pierson Park, South 55th and Douglas, Kansas City, Kan.
