Cabela’s at 10300 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, Kansas, will be the site for an American Red Cross blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16. People interested in giving blood may visit RedCrossBlood.org and make an appointment, or call 1-800-733-2767. Currently, appointments are being encouraged. According to a Red Cross news release, blood is in short supply, and donors of all races and ethnicities are needed to give blood. Another Red Cross blood drive is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 1 at Repairs Unlimited, 1940 Merriam Lane, Kansas City, Kansas.

Customers faced long lines at a local post office toward closing time on Saturday, Dec. 20. What would the holidays be without lines at the post office? This morning a quick run to the Wyandotte West postal station, 1710 N. 78th Terrace, to buy holiday stamps, a trip that would usually take about 5 minutes, had a different result. That was the message that Katherine Carttar and Greg Kindle brought to the annual meeting of Business West via Zoom on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Two business burglaries were reported in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 50th and Leavenworth Road. The Leavenworth Road Association has been alerting businesses to burglaries of sheds that took place at two businesses, Ussery Body Shop and Keith’s Transmission. A dark green pickup truck with a matching shell and trailer was stolen, along with items inside the trailer, according to the Leavenworth Road Association, which asked businesses and residents to call the police if they see anything suspicious.

RideKC and the Unified Government transit services will observe Monday, Jan. 2, as the New Year’s Day holiday. RideKC and the UG buses will be on the Sunday and holiday schedule today, according to an announcement. Regular weekday service will resume Jan. 3 for KCATA and the UG transit buses.
