Matt Besler Graham Zusi Sporting Kansas City defender Matt Besler and midfielder Graham Zusi are among 22 players on the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for next week’s international friendly against Mexico, U.S. Soccer announced. The interchange at 110th and I-70 will be dedicated in a ceremony June 3 in honor of Cantwell’s contributions to the state and the nation. Cantwell, who died in 1996, was the former sheriff of Wyandotte County, also was superintendent of the Kansas Highway Patrol and was a U.S. Marshal. He also served in community leadership positions with the Kansas City, Kansas, Area Chamber of Commerce. Wyandotte County reported an additional 51 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, for a cumulative total of 7,234, according to the Unified Government COVID-19 webpage. There were no additional deaths reported; the total remained the same at 134. Today, a north northeast wind will be 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon, the weather service said, gusting as high as 26 mph. A dry cold front is settling into the region. A basement fire in a single-story residence was reported about 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 1124 Custer Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. A spokesman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Fire Department stated that crews responded and found smoke coming from the side basement window. Crews attacked the fire for about 30 minutes until it was extinguished, the spokesman stated. There was no cause determined yet for the fire, according to the spokesman. There were no injuries. The damage was estimated at about $10,000.
