The Argentine Health Fair will take place on Sept. 12 at Argentine Community Center, 2810 Metropolitan, Kansas City, Kan. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. Saturday. At the health fair, there will be health screenings, community resources, a bounce house, face painting and other events. The health fair will take registration for free Zumba classes and other exercise programs, and free nutrition sessions. The Argentine fast-food restaurant proposal returns to tonight’s Unified Government Economic Development and Finance Committee agenda, only about a month since it was last discussed. The proposed $1.96 million project is a combined Wendy’s and Pizza Hut at 18th and Metropolitan Avenue. Incentives and grants, including a federal grant of $600,000, are proposed for the project. No action was taken on the Argentine fast-food proposal at tonight’s Unified Government Economic Development and Finance Committee meeting as the project hit another roadblock. This time the roadblock was ownership of the building site. A communication Unified Government Administrator Doug Bach received from the state Department of Transportation this afternoon brought the building site at 18th and Metropolitan into question.
