A 3-year-old child was shot in the left arm in a drive-by shooting from a vehicle around 10:15 p.m. Thursday near 72nd and Kansas Avenue. According to a police spokesman, an unknown vehicle drove past the victims and began shooting into their vehicle. The driver of the victim’s vehicle then took the victim to the hospital, where the victim was in stable condition, the spokesman stated. Kansas City, Kansas, police detectives are investigating the shooting, according to the spokesman.

Two hundred twenty-five persons were tested for COVID-19 on Saturday during a screening at Mercy and Truth Medical Missions, 721 N. 31st St., Kansas City, Kansas. The free tests were supplied by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. In addition, 250 people received free food boxes. Cleaning supplies also were given away. Twenty-one Wyandotte County students were named recently to the fall dean’s honor list at the University of Saint Mary. The university’s main campus is at Leavenworth, Kansas. It also has an Overland Park, Kansas, campus, and offers online programs. Those on the list had a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
