A preliminary artist’s rendering of the new Village South development near I-70 and the Kansas Speedway in Edwardsville, Kan. The Village South at Edwardsville development project has moved ahead with the creation of a redevelopment district. According to Zack Daniel, assistant to the Edwardsville city manager, the 27-acre redevelopment district was created by the city council on Wednesday night. The developer of the project is Compass Commodity Group III LLC, which is being represented by Lane4 Property Group. Two Kansas City, Kan., residents were injured in a motorcycle-car accident at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, May 29, on K-32 in Leavenworth County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol trooper’s report, a Harley Davidson motorcycle was westbound on K-32 when a Lincoln Continental tried to pass it while the motorcycle was turning left into a private driveway. The Lincoln struck the motorcycle, and both motorcycle riders were ejected, the report stated. Firefighters turned out in large numbers for a Unified Government Commission special session Thursday that took aim at trading shifts and other items. They did not get to speak at the meeting, and that has ruffled some feathers.
