Authors Lisa Cindrich and Jay Sparks have found that working together on their books has made their writing stronger. Collaborating on their recent books, “Executables” and “Whatever It Takes,” the two authors, who also are librarians at the Kansas City, Kan., Public Libraries, first get an idea and then hold a meeting to discuss the plot of their books. They make a detailed plan for the book. Then they start to write. Cindrich said she’ll write one chapter, Sparks will write another chapter, and then they edit their work. A Dodge Ram pickup truck was taking the exit ramp from eastbound I-70 to southbound Turner Diagonal, about milepost 415.6, at 7:50 p.m. Jan. 2 when it drove off the edge of the curve, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report. The truck then slid down the embankment, struck the ditch, then struck a tree and overturned, the trooper’s report stated. It came to rest on its roof, the report said. Bonner Springs and Edwardsville are planning Christmas tree lighting ceremonies tonight. Bonner Springs will hold the annual Candy Cane Christmas starting at 6:30 p.m. with a parade. The parade will travel from 140 N. Nettleton to Oak Street, then Second Street, ending at Centennial Park. Online town hall meetings start today on the topic of ramp metering on I-35. According to the Kansas Department of Transportation, KC Scout is moving forward with the I-35 ramp metering project between the Kansas-Missouri state line and I-435. KC Scout is operated by the Kansas and Missouri departments of transportation. KC Scout and KDOT are holding the online ramp metering meetings until Dec. 31 to gather public comment on the locations of I-35 on-ramps. A shooting has been reported at the 2200 block of N. 37th St., according to Kansas City, Kan., police. The shooting was reported about 7:45 p.m. Nov. 1. The victim is in critical condition, according to police. A 1996 Acura was westbound on I-70 near Minnesota Avenue at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 when it lost control and struck the outside barrier wall. The victim of a fatal traffic accident at 110th and Leavenworth Road on Oct. 30 has been identified, according to a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman. The victim was Ivica Tomasic, 39, a resident of Kansas City, Kan., police said. He was found trapped under an International utility truck at the accident scene, police said. The truck was westbound on Leavenworth Road when the driver lost control, left the roadway, and overturned in a ditch, police said.
