Two chairs and a couch that fell off a pickup truck on eastbound I-70 west of the Turner Diagonal led to an accident on Friday evening, July 28.
The accident about 7:28 p.m. July 28 happened when an Acura TL driver slammed on the brakes to avoid the furniture and was struck in the rear by a Ford Escape, according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority trooper’s report.
The driver of the Acura, a 24-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, man, had a possible injury, according to the trooper’s report.
The driver of the Escape, a 35-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, woman, was not injured, the trooper’s report stated.
The driver of the pickup truck was unknown, according to the trooper’s report.
The Unified Government Ethics Commission will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Division 18, old county commissioners’ chambers, second floor, Wyandotte County Courthouse, 710 N. 7th St., Kansas City, Kansas.
The victim of a fatal accident on July 29 in the 200 block of North 86th Street has been identified, according to police.
The victim was Jason Snyder, 34, Kansas City, Kansas, according to a police spokesman.
Snyder was driving a motorcycle southbound on North 86th Street near Riverview Avenue about 10 p.m. Saturday when it lost control and collided with a tree, the police spokesman said. The driver was deceased when officers arrived.
The accident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department’s Traffic Support Unit-Critical Collision Response Team.
