Residents are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
Also, a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 11 p.m. for Wyandotte County, according to the weather service.

Also under a thunderstorm warning are northeastern Leavenworth County and central Platte County.
This storm was located near Lansing, Kansas, at 4:12 p.m., moving north at 25 mph.
It includes 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail. Hail damage to vehicles is possible, along with wind damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Wolcott, Kansas City, Kansas, and Pomeroy are among the areas in Wyandotte County that can be in the path of the storm.

An incident around midday Saturday near 8th and Minnesota Avenue ended peacefully, according to a police spokesman.
An individual had passed out in a car in the middle of the street with a gun in the individualâs lap, according to the police spokesman. A resident stated that streets were blocked off during the incident.
Officers approached and were able to take the individual into custody without incident, the police spokesman stated.
