A special joint meeting of the Kansas City, Kan., Board of Education and the Kansas City Kansas Community College Board of Trustees will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the Kansas City, Kan., Public Schools Central Office and Training Center, board room, 2010 N. 59th St., Kansas City, Kan.
The meeting will be a joint inservice and discussion between the Board of Education and the Board of Trustees and an update on plans to establish common targets to support the Diploma Plus initiative.

Polski Day, a benefit for All Saints parish, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The event includes a parade beginning at 11 a.m. at 14th and Central Avenue. A Polka Mass will be held at 4 p.m. May 7 at All Saints Catholic Church, 8th and Vermont, Kansas City, Kan. At the festival, there will be polka dancing and Polish food. On location at their church at 5301 Metropolitan Avenue, the prayer room and retreat center is open to the public for daytime retreats. All individuals or small groups seeking a quiet, sacred space to gather, pray, meditate, journal or read resources about prayer are welcome. The prayer room provides a peaceful space for solitude or can be scheduled in advance for groups of up to eight people. Guests seeking spiritual guidance may schedule a time of spiritual direction with one of the pastoral staff, and groups may inquire about scheduling a member of the pastoral team to lead or speak at a retreat.
