Wyandotte County received a dusting of snow starting about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. It started snowing again around 9 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, more snow is possible, mainly before midnight. As much as an inch or two of snow is possible. A new Spira Care Center will open Nov. 1 at 9800 Troup Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas.
The facility will offer integrated primary care and coverage in one place to simplify the health care experience, making it more personal and affordable, according to a spokesman.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC) facility will provide access to Blue KC members enrolled in Spira Care. In all, there are six Spira Care centers located in Greater Kansas City.
According to a spokesman, Spira Care is designed to create a care experience that is simple and personal, while also innovative and forward-thinking. Blue KC members enrolled in Spira Care will have access to integrated primary care, behavioral health consults, health coaching, routine lab draws and other services in one place at a low cost.
The care team will include physicians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health clinicians, health coaches and care guides.
Dr. Marla McLaughlin is the regional lead at the new Wyandotte Care Center.

A Kansas woman was sentenced today to a year and a day in prison for swindling homeowners facing foreclosure with false promises to help them save their homes, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said.
Ruby Price, 74, Bonner Springs, Kansas, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud. Price was a managing partner of Arize Group, a company based in Overland Park, Kansas. She and co-defendants took money from distressed homeowners by fraudulently promising to:
- Lower their interest rates.
- Lower their monthly payments
- Help them obtain loan modifications.
McAllister commended the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – Office of Inspector General, the Federal Housing Finance Agency – Office of Inspector General, the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Emilie Burdette and Assistant U.S. Attorney Jabari Wamble for their work on the case.
