Shepherd’s Center to hold annual sale March 12-13

The Shepherd’s Center of Kansas City, Kan., will hold its 20th annual Book and Bric-a-Brac Sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, March 12 and 13, in the Conference Center at Kansas City Kansas Community College, 7250 State Ave.

The annual used book sale and bric-a-brac sale will benefit the Shepherd’s Center’s programs for older adults here.

Donations will be accepted beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the conference center, which is near the pond. For more information or to schedule a pickup for donations, call 913-281-8908.

Monthly book club for women to meet March 11

A monthly book club for women about women will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 11 at the Keeler Women’s Center, 2220 Central Ave., Kansas City, Kan.

Books are provided for regular attendees. March 11 – discuss “The Persian Pickle Club” by Sandra Dallas. April 8 – discuss “Amity and Sorrow” by Peggy Riley. To register, call 913-906-8990.

Support group to meet March 10

The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Kansas City, Kan., Support and Education Group, will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 10 at Trinity Community Church, 5010 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kan.

The speaker will be Gerald Ulrich, on the topic, “What About NAMI Keeps Me Involved.” The group is for consumers and families, bringing together people who have questions about mental illness.
